Gunjan Sharma is a Postdoctoral scholar in the department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, at University of California, Los Angeles, USA. Her specific area of research deals with pediatric leukemia. Her work involves studying the multifaceted role of an RNA binding protein, Insulin like Growth Factor 2 Binding Protein 3 (IGF2BP3). IGF2BP3 is overexpressed in MLL::AF4 rearranged B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic. RNA binding proteins represent one mechanism of controlling gene expression post-transcriptionally which is a key to the transformation of a normal cell into a leukemic cell. Her current work focuses on an important aspect related to the function of IGF2BP family- their roles as m6A readers, and on exploring the epitranscriptomic milieu of a leukemic stem cell.  Gunjan completed her PhD from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India, working on deciphering the role of other member of this family, IGF2BP1, in the pathogenesis of ETV6::RUNX1 positive B-ALL.
